An overview of frequently searched abbreviations
We have researched for you and compiled a list of frequently searched English abbreviations:
am/pm
These are times, where am stands for ante meridiem and is used for times from midnight to 11:59 (e.g.: 3 am would be 03:00) and pm for post meridiem and corresponding to the hours from noon to 23: 59 o'clock (e.g.: 2 pm would be 14:00).
atm
This English abbreviation is spelled out as at the moment and means: right now, at this moment, currently.
asap
This abbreviation stands for as soon as possible and means as soon as possible / as soon as possible / as soon as possible.
etc
Written out, eta means “estimated time of arrival”. This English abbreviation is often used in business contexts.
ff/pp
The abbreviation ff stands for following pages (e.g. page 216 ff); pp. is the plural of page (pages) and comes before the specified pages, e.g. pp. 104–109 (pp. 104–109).
im/pm
These abbreviations refer to chats and stand for instant message or instant messaging (instant message or instant messaging service) or personal message (private message). The abbreviation pm now also exists as a verb. For example, one often finds the request pm me, which means “send me a private message”.
